Homeward Bound City of Adelaide

b2ap3_thumbnail_Homeward01.jpgOur office recently acted as cargo surveyors for the loading of the 'City of Adelaide' onboard the Combi-Lift heavy lift ship MV 'Palanpur' at the Mammoet Terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands for her return shipment to home port. Adelaide, Australia.

The City of Adelaide is the oldest clipper ship in the World and among the last two clipper ships surviving today, along with the Cutty Sark. The vessel was transported by barge from Irvine, Scotland to London, where a renaming ceremony was held in Greenwich in the presence of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. The vessel was lifted directly from the barge to the ship's deck using the ship's own deck cranes.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Homeward02.JPGWe were appointed by the shipping agents Peters and May Ltd to assist in planning and overseeing the vessel's loading and securing processes. Our office completed lashing calculations and raised a full formal report, which documents the processes and condition of the vessel throughout in order to satisfy insurers Royal Sun Alliance.
